The Wrocław authorities are planning to introduce a clean transport zone (SCT) in the city centre. Popular in other European countries, the solution would reduce harmful air pollution.
According to current plans, the zone would be established in 2025 and would cover eight housing estates in the city centre. “This is an area that accounts for six per cent of the city’s area, but the effects will also be felt by the remaining residents,” – argues Tomasz Stefanicki of Wrocław Magistrate.
The ban on entering the SCT is planned to cover cars over 20 years old for diesel cars and 25 years old for petrol units. The introduction of the restrictions is expected to reduce particulate matter (PM) emissions by 57.82%.
