“The third dimension of cities” in Katowice

The Third Dimension of Cities will take place on 29 June at Mukhowiec Airport in Katowice. Various applications of unmanned aircraft will be shown at the event and numerous panel discussions on drones will be followed. The organizers ensure the participation of many interesting guests, both from Poland and abroad, who will take part in the thematic discussions. In expert discussions, listeners can broaden their horizons about Search and Rescue and the use of drones for environmental protection.

During the event, the international technology competition – the GZM-Droniade – will also be decided.

Droniada is a project of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębiowska Metropolis, which consists in holding a competition for lovers of modern technologies. Anyone who is passionate about digital technology and robotics can take part in competitions. This is another edition of the project, which has been organised since 2014.

During the event the staging of the rescue operation is also planned. It is intended to show how the missing person can be found using drones equipped with a thermal imaging camera.

The event will be complemented by presentations by companies from the technology industry, including Spartaqs, ILOT, Aeromind, Under Ant, BZB UAS, Sopockie WOPR, Flytronic, Farada, DRON.edu.pl, Dronpol, Aviation Project, Silesian University of Technology, GREY Megadron, LTA Design.

The website is operated as part of the programme of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science – Social Responsibility of Science.

The project is carried out by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

The state-funded project was accepted for funding in the context of a competition launched by the Minister of Education and Science on 8 March 2021 as part of the “Social Responsibility of Science” programme.

Value of aid: PLN 235,087,00. Total cost of the project: PLN 265.087,00

The aim of the project is to promote scientific research in the field of the law of new technologies by disseminating knowledge of the legislation on unmanned aerial vehicles – drones – in particular their operation, design, the obligations of operators and pilots, the obligations of public actors in the field of electromobility and the support mechanisms for users.
