The Competition Committee of the Rector’s Grant 2023 at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków has selected the most strategic projects, which were awarded funding of PLN 1.3 million. Among the selected projects of student circles, there was a project by the AGH Drone Engineering research circle. The students’ project concerns the development of a prototype of an ultralight drone for transporting blood and medical products.

The drone weighs less than 2 kg, has a range of 10 km and is able to fly for about 20 minutes without stopping. According to the project, it is expected to transport at least one unit of blood, or about 500 ml. In addition, the container along with the blood is to contain cooling cartridges, which will help to maintain the right temperature during transport.

The students’ project will provide support primarily for cities with heavy traffic. Thanks to the AGH Drone Engineering project, it will be possible to quickly deliver the right blood group to a person in need.

The website is operated as part of the programme of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science – Social Responsibility of Science.

The project is carried out by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

Project name: Law of new technologies – drones, electromobility. Innovation, development, security.

The state-funded project was accepted for funding in the context of a competition launched by the Minister of Education and Science on 8 March 2021 as part of the “Social Responsibility of Science” programme.
