The plans to build a Polish electric car are becoming more and more concrete. Recently, ElectroMobility Poland presented the schedule of the entire project at a press conference in Katowice.

According to the aforementioned schedule, the company plans to obtain all the necessary permits by the end of 2023. This is a very complicated and complex process, because when building such a factory it is necessary to take into account legal issues in the field of environmental protection law and construction law.

The next stage – planned for 2024 and lasting, according to assumptions, 18 months – is the construction of the factory. The project itself is to be completed by the end of next year and is being developed in cooperation with Dürr Systems AG. The end of the first stage of construction and the start of production should take place at the end of 2025. It is estimated that, working in a three-shift system, the production capacity will amount to 100,000. cars per year. The cost of this investment is to amount to PLN 6 billion. The schedule also assumes the possibility of expanding the factory in the second stage of construction, but this is a perspective reaching 2030.

– This plant is a typical production plant, just like we have Fiat in Tychy and Opel in Gliwice: platform, body, chassis, it will be built in our welding shop. It’s not like a ready-made car will arrive and we’ll just assemble some seats and so on – this car will be built from scratch at our place – says Cyprian Gronkiewicz, production launch director at EMP.

The project is carried out by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

Project name: Law of new technologies – drones, electromobility. Innovation, development, security.

The state-funded project was accepted for funding in the context of a competition launched by the Minister of Education and Science on 8 March 2021 as part of the “Social Responsibility of Science” programme.
