Bulgarian start-up, Dronamics has developed an unmanned aircraft for transport flights. The Modle Black Swan has already received the certification necessary for a cargo drone in the European Union, which is expected to take effect from 2023.

The vessel was developed by two brothers, Konstantin and Svilen Rangelov. The Black Swan has a range of 2,500km, a maximum altitude of 6,000m and a payload weight of 350kg. Runways are required for take-off and landing, but they can be short and unpaved, this is made possible by the fixed wing of the machine. The craft will be powered by environmentally friendly aviation fuel.

The drone resembles a small transport aircraft, except that it is not equipped with a cockpit. The savings from the lack of service are estimated to be up to 50 per cent of the cost, compared to traditional transport aircraft of this size.

Companies such as DHL and Hellmann, definitely giants in the transport market, have already started working with Dronamics. All indications are that the Bulgarian engineers’ project has been a great success and that cargo drones are definitely the future of the logistics industry.

The website is operated as part of the programme of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science – Social Responsibility of Science.

The project is carried out by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.

Project name: Law of new technologies – drones, electromobility. Innovation, development, security.

The state-funded project was accepted for funding in the context of a competition launched by the Minister of Education and Science on 8 March 2021 as part of the “Social Responsibility of Science” programme.

Value of aid: PLN 235,087,00. Total cost of the project: PLN 265.087,00

The aim of the project is to promote scientific research in the field of the law of new technologies by disseminating knowledge of the legislation on unmanned aerial vehicles – drones – in particular their operation, design, the obligations of operators and pilots, the obligations of public actors in the field of electromobility and the support mechanisms for users.
