In Legionowo near Warsaw, a free city charger for electric cars was created. The construction of the investment was co-financed from EU funds, one of the conditions was that this service was free of charge. The whole initiative seems very appropriate, it is to encourage drivers to switch to more ecological than combustion electric cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the charging station was closed two weeks after its opening, because the City ran out of funds to cover the costs of electricity, the City Hall itself reports that the reason is “use of the station contrary to its intended use”. The station enjoyed huge traffic, queues formed to it – which, given the current electricity prices, probably does not surprise anyone. However, a large group of users of chargers were Warsaw taxi drivers who wanted to save on the costs of their activities in this way. The city’s position therefore seems justified, as the station was originally intended for the needs of the local community for non-commercial purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second, similar station was also to be built in Legionowo, but work has been suspended for the time being. The whole initiative seems interesting and could be an incentive for those undecided to buy electric cars. Undoubtedly, the current energy crisis and the related increases in electricity prices are not conducive to such investments.
